GENERAL INFORMATION
Educación Para Todos was founded in 1991 by a group of University students. Since then, Educación Para Todos has taught Spanish and introduced Guatemalan culture to students from all over the world. In our program, students have the option to experience 'total immersion' by living with a Guatemalan family, volunteering with various organizations, and participating in social, cultural, academic, and sports activities that we offer every week. All of these opportunities are of course optional – you decide based on your own particular needs and interests.
CLASSES AT EDUCACION PARA TODOS
Our one-to-one teaching approach is one of the more effective methods for learning a language. Our teachers have a minimum of five years of experience teaching Spanish, have a solid background in Spanish grammar, and are knowledgeable about the history and culture of Guatemala and Latin America. All of our teachers are University students or professionals in areas such as social work, psychology, education, agriculture, etc. Educación Para Todos uses a proven curriculum that includes 500 exercises covering all aspects of Spanish grammar.
CLASSES AT EDUCACION PARA TODOS
A typical class at Educación Para Todos is taught completely in Spanish, and takes place in a warm and friendly environment. During the course of five hours each day, students learn grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. And through conversations with teachers, students learn about the culture and history of Guatemala and Latin America. Educación Para Todos has extensive experience working with students of all levels, from those who have never spoken a word of Spanish to those who are already extremely advanced and are looking to perfect their skills.
ACTIVITIES
Staying in the class all day does get tiring.
It also does not allow for our students to enjoy the beauty of nature and culture that Quetzaltenango and Guatemala has to offer.
To help with this, we organize weekly activities and trips. These activities are in the form of movies, lectures, documentaries and group lessons. We also take hikes to indigenous villages, visit many area NGO‘s and meet with local community organizations.
FAMILIES
As an important part of our teaching method, the majority of students choose to live with a local family where they are treated like a member of the family. In this way, students have a chance to practice and improve their Spanish skills, as well as experience our culture more directly.
VOLUNTEER
There is no better way to have a fuller, more rewarding experience and have innumerable opportunities to practice your Spanish than to volunteer in a local organization. To help you do this, we created the Volunteer Center. The Volunteer Center works as a liaison between the students that want to serve and the organizations in need. We have several contacts with agencies and organizations in and around Quetzaltenango. With an agreement to study a minimum of one week at our school, we will help you get placed in an organization.
