► Basic information on Bolivia

SucreSucre, Constitutional Capital of Bolivia, is one of the most beautiful, nice, quiet, clean and amazing places in South America. In this peaceful city where everybody walks from one to another place through squares, parks and colonial streets you are able to see beautiful and well preserved colonial buildings, all painted in white, with the traditional balconies and architecture.

Also all the monuments, parks and historical places are surrounded by green and flowery gardens where you can sit down and read a book, relax, think, get a tend or just watch people coming and going.

Food is really important here!

Sucre (Bolivia) - Food is really important here!

There are many traditional and typical dishes. Two of the most popular are: 'la salteña' and 'el chorizo chuquisaqueño'. La salteña is a kind of 'empanada', made it with a sweet pastry and refill with meat of cow or chicken, vegetables, potato and chilli pepper, that’s why it is a bit spicy or hot. You can eat it anytime, but people here eat it mostly during the morning.

El chorizo chuquisaqueño is a big and spicy sausage and it’s served with bread, lettuce and tomato. You can eat it also during the morning.

At the same time you will find many another special and typical dishes in Tarabuco’s market, just at 60 kilometres from Sucre. In this traditional market it is possible to find textiles and all types of handicraft made in Bolivia. I recommend 'picante de pollo' made of chicken with pasta, cheese and some vegetables, it is call 'picante' because has chilli pepper, so it is a spicy dish.

If you are vegetarian we have also typical dishes with no meat, they are delicious!!
