► Basic information on Dominican Republic
The village in the east of the International Airport (15 km) and about 25 km far from of Puerto Plata, was founded in 1938 by 500 Jewish settlers. Sosua is well known all over the island for its milk and meat products.
The village character is shaped by international restaurants, coffee shops, also several international schools, German butchers and bakers could to be found too. German and English newspapers and broadcasting is available.
The old part of Sosua is called the Charamicos, where the original live of the Dominicans takes place. You can enjoy there the hot Carribean music like merengue, bachata and salsa.
