► Basic information on Argentina

RosarioRosario, Argentina is a city of about 1 million inhabitants along the edge of the Paraná River.

A mere four hours from Buenos Aires, it feels like a world apart. Or rather, if feels like you are in Argentina. Void of the 'international flavor' or the capitol city, Rosarino’s still take a siesta in the middle of the day and gather in parks and along the river front to enjoy maté.

Booming in the the last couple of years

In the last couple of years the city has been booming. jumpstarted by the World Conference on the Spanish Language which took place here in 2004, you can see evidence of growth in everything from the construction all over the city, the improvement of parks and development of more cultural spaces, to the vast selection of restaurants that are always packed with locals.

Places to Eat

Rosario is known for it’s vast array of restaurants. There is at least one bar (casual restaurant) on every corner, and you’ll never walk far to find a parilla or pasta house. Some favorites:

Pizza Rustica

Pizza Rustica is a favorite for two reasons. One, their pizza is amazing. Heaped with your choice of delicious toppings such as artichoke hearts, fresh basil, first quality salamis and Roquefort cheese, They truly have some of the best pizza in the city. Two, they have very generous, ready-to-go, individual portions for those occasions when you truly don’t’ have time to sit down to a typically relaxed and long Argentine dining experience.

Street address: San Juan 1486

La Pampa

Situated on a corner with windows all around, La Pampa is a beautiful dining experience inside and out. A comfortably sized dining room, very attentive waiters serve truly first-class food. It's highly recommend the veal in Roquefort sauce.

Corner of Mendoza and Moreno.

Avenida Pellegrini

This broad avenue of historic buildings could easily be compared to Restaurant Row in Chicago, and there is something for everyone. Several offerings for “Pizza Libre” where you can eat as much pizza as you like for about $7 arg. Keep ordering as long as you’re hungry, but don’t leave any on your plate or they charge you for the waste! Pellegrini probably also has the city’s largest selection of Parilla’s. A few great ones to try are El Establo where the portions are large, the meal is long and relaxing and best shared with friends.

Museo del Arte Contemporaneo

Located in what used to be an old grain silo, this museum is just as fun to visit outside as in.

The collection is small but interesting and always changing, and the connected bar is a great place to have a drink and visit with friends while looking out over the river.

Parque Independencia

Lakes, bridges, roses, and a water show daily, this park is justified in being a source of city pride.

Local horticulture students change the flowers daily to reflect the present date - and many couples take pictures here on their wedding day.
