O GROVE BEACHES
O Grove possesses 30 beaches placed in two principal coasts: The Atlantic Ocean and the Ría Arousa.
The beaches in the Atlantic coast are wide, with white and soft sand, and are orientated towards the southwest. The biggest of them is called A Lanzada, a sandbank of 2,5 kms. of length which even in winter is visited by numerous persons who are walking and practising surf.
This beach counts with the 'Blue Flag of the Clean Waters of Europe', that guarantees the suitability of its water for the bath and the services for the users.
A Lanzada is also a famous beach in Galicia because in one of its points there is a Romanesque chapel where pilgrimages dedicated to the Virgin are celebrated.
It is said that if you want to have a baby, you must bathe the night of the first Sunday of August or in San Juan (June 24) and to jump nine consecutive waves.
There are four more beaches of O Grove with Blue Flag, two on the Atlantic coast Area da Cruz and Raeiros and two in the Ría de Arousa, orientated to the northwest: Area Pipas and Reboredo's area, both with the most beautiful sunset on the sea.
There are some more beaches in O Grove: from the small urban beaches of Conf'ín, A Toxa and Rons until to the beautiful ones, and almost wild ones, of O Carreiro and Mexiloeira.
