Labastida is between the Toloño mountain and the Ebro River. It is the “door” of the Rioja Alavesa, one of the most wellknown winegrowing regions. Labastida has a lot of interesting things to see and do:
It combines peace and young atmosphere
Its population is multiplied by ten in summer and on weekends.
Wineries & Churches
There are many wineries to visit and where you can learn all about the wine.
The rich heritage of this region ranges from the Neolithic remains to the gothic and baroque arts. The most important are the church of “Ntra. Sñra. De la Asunción” and the Casa Consistorial.
Festivals
The main festivals take place in august but there are many programmed activities all the year.
The Toloño Mountain has a “magical” influence in the village.
Well communicated

Things to see in La Rioja Alavesa or La Rioja Alta
If you come to La Rioja Alavesa or La Rioja Alta you must know that:
Laguardia is a walled village. Its subsoil is like a big cave full of cellars.
The first text in Spanish was found in San Millán de la Cogolla, a 10th century village.
Santo Domingo de la Calzada is a medieval village where all the pilgrims stop in their way to Santiago.
In almost all the villages you can admire both coats of arms in the walls of many houses and medieval churches.
Wineries
In La Rioja Alavesa and La Rioja Alta you can visit Rioja wineries: traditional, small and modern ones.
From centenary wineries that keep in their caves with the tradition of Rioja to the XX century ones designed by Frank Ghery or Santiago Calatrava.
