Capital of the old kingdom of Aragon
The city of Jaca, some 850 meters (2800 ft) above sea level, was the capital of the old kingdom of Aragon and is today a leading tourist resort in the heart of the Pyrenees. Jaca is a small city with good communications and with an important artistic and historical heritage. Jaca offers a wide range of cultural events and services, including concerts, flea markets, exhibitions, conferences and congresses.
Improvised performances
The real festivals are in the streets, when performances are improvised and then the public gets involved ending in continuous parades.
There are many exhibitions of crafts, musical instruments, stamps and other objects from the participating countries.
Folk festival in Jaca
Once every two years during the first week in August, on the odd numbered years, Jaca runs wild with one of the world’s best international folkloric and music and dance festivals. It is as if the world decided to meet during one week to dance in the Pyreneans to let there spirit touch the mountains and the sky.
