Climate, weather: Guadalajara is mild year-round, with the occasional freak cold spell. The warmest months, April and May, are hot and dry. From June through September, the city gets afternoon and evening showers that keep the temperature a bit cooler.
'The Pearl of the West' is the affectionate name that the local residents have for Mexico's second largest city, Guadalajara. Located in the west-central part of the country in the state of Jalisco, the beautiful Colonial city of Guadalajara sits on a high plateau more than 5,000 feet above sea level.
Even today, the downtown area of Guadalajara is filled with charming Colonial buildings dating from the 1600's.
Historic centre
Guadalajara's historic centre is a great place to get acquainted with some of this areas history and also get a taste of the incredible colonial architecture.
