Conil is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture, community, history and outstanding natural beauty of the area 'Costa de la Luz' appropriately named as the 'Coast of Light' with white luminous sandy shores of the Atlantic.

Former fishing village

Conil a former fishing village with all its original charm, faces a wide bay of brilliant white beaches stretching for miles to either sides of the town and lapped by a majestic Atlantic Ocean. Conil has a wide choice of restaurants and bars with a pleasant climate and low cost of living.

Easy access for trips

Conil is located favourably with easy access for your trips to Seville, Jerez, Cádiz or even Morocco (only two hours away) and Gibraltar.

The majority of tourists are Spanish so there is an enjoyable, if rather familiar atmosphere, perfect for practicing your Spanish.

Excursions

You can use Conil as a base for city trips, e.g. to Cadiz, the provincial capital, which claims to be the oldest city in the western world.

Don't miss the route through the White Villages, which passes through Grazalema Nature Park, or Tarifa, a paradise for windsurfers and a mecca for summer fashion lovers.

You can also take a trip across to Morocco. Conil is only two hours away from Africa. You'll need your passport and a ferry ticket which you can purchase at a port 60 km from Conil. The ferries depart hourly.

The 'El Colorado Feria'

In the month of June, we celebrate the traditional, El Colorado spring fair. The fair lasts four days and it takes place in the El Colorado pinewoods. The fair starts with the traditional switch-on of the illuminations and continues with the crowning of the infant and teenage queens. There is also a presentation of 'bands' of the ladies from the rural areas. Featured at the fair are also a competition of fruit and vegetables as well as a horse show and a display of local country arts and crafts.

There is one day at the fair especially for children, one day for the ladies and another for senior citizens. The ends with a procession around the area of the 'Feria'.
