Founded August 15th in 1537 the day of the Asunción of the Virgin the Paraguayan capital city conserves its colonial profile.

The city has a lot of parks, calm avenues and gardens next to the bay on the Paraguay River.

Nowadays Asuncion and its metropolitan area have an approximated population of 1,400,000 inhabitants and counts with all can offer a modern and cosmopolitan city.

Places of interest are the Port, the Cathedral, the Palace of Government, several museums among them Bellas Artes Museum and the House of Independence.

Further the Pantheon of the Heroes, constructed of 1863 mausoleum of the heroes of Independence, the Manzana de la Rivera, a complex of eight buildings that gives an impression of Paraguayan architecture of the centuries XVIII and XIX.

It is a cultural centre and a centre of art and recreation with permanent exhibitions.

The Museum Memoria de la Ciudad is located in the House of Viola, the oldest one of the Manzana de la Ribera complex.

The Railroad Carlos Antonio López allows us to travel into the history and enjoy the green valleys surrounded by hills, picturesque towns, traditions and customs far from the modern highways.
