Climate, weather: 14ºC - 20ºC (61ºF - 69ºF) from October to March spring-like with occasional showers in the winter, 26ºC - 29ºC (79ºF - 88ºF) from April to September comfortable and dry in the summer.

Vejer de la Frontera is a small, perfectly conserved, historic town surrounded by beautiful countryside. It has been granted the status of Area of Historic and Artistic Interest and has also won the Most Beautiful Towns of Spain award.

You know that coming to learn Spanish here will be as much as a visual wonder as linguistic.

The steep, zigzagging streets, the whitewashed houses and the balconies filled with flowers also hide internet cafes, hotels, guest houses, shops, restaurants, galleries and side-walk cafes.

The best time of year.

Although summer is the time of most activity in Vejer, there are festivals throughout the year–carnival, Easter Week, local fairs and pilgrimages, flamenco festivals, exhibitions and concerts.

Other white villages “pueblos blancos” are not far away and the Grazalema and Doñana National Parks are also easily accessible by car.

Activities

La Breña-pine woods. The pinewoods inland from the beach and along the cliffs form a “Parque Natural” and are a perfect place for walking, cycling, picnicking and bird watching.

Outdoor activities: Vejer is a popular place for paragliding and in Barbate there is both a canoeing club and a scuba-diving club.

Snorkelling, hiking, fly-surfing, wind-surfing and traditional surfing are all popular in the area.

The beach

Fifteen minutes away on the Atlantic coast are some spectacular beaches. El Palmar, which is within the municipality of Vejer, has remained undeveloped thanks to strict limits on building and is normally free from crowds. Los Caños de Meca has more visitors and is very popular with young people. There are bars and restaurants, discos and shops and the cove is ideal for windsurfing.
