Resting place for travellers
Open to the world, since the XIII century, a crossroads and resting place for travellers coming and going from all directions.
The village has always been a reference point for travellers and a meeting point for the visitors that filled the town during the market and fairs.
A feature that gave Aranda its character and filled its streets and squares with cheap restaurants, inns and taverns.
The Bodegas of Aranda de Duero
One of the most interesting things in Aranda de Duero is its "bodegas".
Underneath the surface of Aranda de Duero exist a network of tunnels known as "bodegas" (underground wine cellars). They were finished and built to store and produce wine, famous to Aranda, since the the Middle Ages.
There are actually more than 120 bodegas.
